Congressman Chris Stewart (R-Utah) visited Fillmore on Wednesday, meeting with residents, students, city officials and business leaders.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Utah’s first capital,” Stewart said. “It’s critical for me to hear the concerns of constituents and businesses from all across the state—including those in Fillmore.”

After meeting with Fillmore Mayor Eugene Larsen, Stewart met with residents of Millard County that had questions or concerns about federal issues.

“The best part of my job is meeting with constituents,” Stewart said. “I take these meetings and conversations very seriously, as they shape my priorities in Washington. I plan to come back to Fillmore soon, and would love to meet with as many residents as I can.”

In addition to meetings with constituents, Stewart spoke to eighth graders at Fillmore Middle School about the biggest challenges facing our nation.

“I was very impressed with the eighth graders at Fillmore Middle School,” he said. “In addition to being nice, friendly and energetic, they were also knowledgeable about the government and asked very insightful questions. The teachers and administration should be very proud of these students.”

Before leaving Fillmore, Stewart met with business leaders, and toured the Fillmore Intermountain Healthcare hospital.

“The Fillmore hospital is an important operation that is vital to the economy and safety of those in Millard County,” Stewart said. “Not only does the hospital provide meaningful jobs in the county, it also provides for the health and well-being of residents and those traveling through the county.”

Congressman Stewart left Fillmore saying, “I am so proud to represent this community in Congress".
