Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah), issued the following statement after President Obama gave his 2014 State of the Union Address:

"President Obama missed an opportunity tonight. Instead of setting a tone of legislative bipartisanship in 2014, he chose to outline an aggressive political agenda full of unilateral executive actions. This goes against his constitutional authority and isn't a recipe for creating trust and good will in Congress."

"While the president is right that we need to get our economy back on track, he's absolutely wrong that the federal government is the solution. The key to growing the economy and fighting poverty isn't more federal programs; it's getting the federal government out of the way and empowering individuals."

"America is still the greatest country in the world, but we are in a fight for the very heart and soul of our nation. The decisions we make over the next several years will determine our future. My hope for this year is that we grow the economy, expand opportunity, continue to maintain a strong national defense and begin to significantly reduce our debt."
