Rep. Stewart Responds to President Biden’s State of the Union
Washington,
February 7, 2023
WASHINGTON— Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) released the following statement in response to President Biden’s State of the Union address.
“President Biden’s State of the Union was out of touch. It imaged a very different version of our nation from the reality that Americans face every day. This administration’s policy has left our economy uncertain, our military weakened, and our adversaries emboldened. That’s why Americans elected a new Republican majority. We are committed to getting this nation back on track. “The divided Congress is an opportunity to make bipartisan progress. We have a chance to focus not on partisan policy that furthers a Democrat or Republican agenda, but on foundational policy that furthers an American agenda. This opportunity absolutely exists in the space of mental health. Our nation’s young people are facing an unprecedented mental health crisis, and I applaud President Biden for his acknowledgement of that tragic reality. I look forward to our continued bipartisan work to help all Americans struggling with mental health challenges. “Today serves as a snapshot of where we are as a country, and there is clearly a lot of work to be done. I’m eager to continue that work toward a future that is stronger, freer, and more secure.” |
