Stewart’s PARC Act Discussed in House Committee Hearing

Today, the House Natural Resources Committee held a hearing discussing the PARC Act. The Provide Access and Retain Continuity Act, introduced last month by Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah), would enable states to continue operating National Parks and other federal facilities in the event of a future government shut down, if the states so choose.

Stewart Introduces Legislation to Prevent Park Closures in the Event of Future Government Shutdowns

Today, Rep. Chris Stewart (UT-2), introduced the Provide Access and Retain Continuity Act, otherwise known as the PARC Act. In the event of future government shutdowns or lapse in appropriations, this bill enables states to fund and continue operating National Parks and other federal facilities or programs that have direct economic impacts on tourism, mining, timber, or general transportation in the state.

Stewart Co-Sponsors Bill to Support Federal Workers

Today, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) co-sponsored the Federal Employee Retroactive Pay Fairness Act, which would retroactively pay the nearly 800,000 federal civilian employees who have been furloughed due to the government shutdown. It’s estimated that 40,000 federal employees have been furloughed in Utah.

I empathize with those that are feeling its devastating effects, particularly hard working people who have been furloughed, including members of my own family and my congressional staff.
