UPDATE: INTERIOR RESPONDS TO REP. STEWART. SERVICES TO RESUME AT UTAH'S NATIONAL PARKS
Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congressman Chris Stewart (R-UT) received a letter from Acting Secretary Bernhardt acknowledging the challenges that our National Parks are facing during this partial lapse in government appropriations. In the letter, Acting Secretary Bernhardt states that “… the burdens being born by local communities should be addressed by Park Service personnel within days, particularly at the bigger parks such as Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks.”
Congressman Stewart is joined by Reps. Rob Bishop (R-UT) and John Curtis (R-UT) as signatories for a letter to the Acting Secretary of the Interior, David Bernhardt. The letter, dated January 4, requested that the DOI take emergency measures to resume operations at Utah’s National Parks.
“I am grateful for the quick response to our letter and the extraordinary steps the Department is taking to ensure our Utah Parks are protected and open for visitors.” – Rep. Chris Stewart
