Stewart Urges the President to Produce a Balanced Budget
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Chris Stewart (R-UT) has co-sponsored the “Require a PLAN” Act, expected to be considered on the House Floor on Wednesday. This bill, H.R. 444, introduced by Rep. Tom Price (R-GA), would require the White House to either produce a balanced budget, or provide a supplemental budget to identify when their plan would actually achieve balance.
“Yesterday marked the fourth time in the last five years, that President Obama has failed to submit a budget proposal to Congress on time,” Stewart said. “This is unacceptable. We must stop the trillion dollar deficits and require a path to a balanced budget—a path to fiscal sanity. We cannot afford to continue our current path. This year, House Republicans will again pass a budget and continue to thoughtfully propose solutions to solve our debt crisis. Now is the time for the President to demonstrate an understanding of the nation’s need to balance our budget.”
