Rep. Stewart Votes in Favor of Trade

Jun 12, 2015
Press Release

Washington, D.C. — Today, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) released the following statement after the House passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA):

"Conservatives have always supported open markets and free trade, and I’m joining conservative colleagues like Senator Ted Cruz and Rep. Jeb Hensarling in supporting Trade Promotion Authority."

"TPA is the mechanism for Congress to act on its constitutionally mandated responsibility to “regulate commerce with Foreign nations”. It gives Congress unprecedented oversight of the trade negotiating process and ensures that the American people will be able to fully review any trade agreements before it comes to Congress for a vote."

"It's been proven time and again that free trade helps grow our economy and TPA strengthens Congress’ role in approving pro-American free trade deals."
