MEDIA ADVISORY: Rep. Stewart to Present Military Awards to Tooele Veteran
Tooele, UT -- On Monday, Rep. Chris Stewart (UT-2), a former Air Force officer, will present the fourteen Army awards and decorations to Staff Sergeant Wendell Thayne of Tooele, Utah. Thayne served in the Utah National Guard for 25 years, during which he was deployed to guard the Deseret Chemical Facility shortly after September 11, 2001. He was later deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
“Staff Sergeant Thayne is an example of the courageous men and women that are protecting the United States around the world," Stewart said. "As a former military officer, it's an absolute honor for me to present him with these awards."
This event is open to the media but not the general public.
