Rep. Stewart Votes Against the Budget Deal

Oct 28, 2015
Press Release

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Chris Stewart (R-Utah) released the following statement after voting against the budget deal, which increases the debt ceiling and government spending:

“I’ve always said that any increase of the debt ceiling must be coupled with significant spending and entitlement reforms that will balance our budget and allow us to begin paying down the debt. I could not vote for today’s budget deal because it does not include sufficient reforms or spending cuts. I can’t agree to immediate spending increases in exchange for the promise of future savings.”
